Kung Fu practice sharpens all the senses while relying on none...

By practicing Blind Fist, Kung Fu students discover that their hearing and sense of touch sharpens.
In ancient times Kung Fu training included drilling in near or total darkness. This was preparation for combat. and in many situations a life or death skill.

Develoment of secondary sensory accuracy
We hear of many stories from Japan and China of numerous folk tales and myths about blind warriors who overcame their disability and became fierce fighters. In reality, there are masters in China who routinely perform dangerous stunts while blindfolded to demonstrate their development of secondary sensory accuracy. Students in some martial arts schools are taught self-defense techniques while blindfolded. We are one of the schools that does this. The teaching begins very basic starting with learning balance and progresses as you progress.
Those who are blind from birth learn to balance using the two remaining senses available and so are better able to balance and move about. Never having used vision for balance they feel no disability in this regard. As we get older, losing the ability to balance can be frightening and detrimental especially if the other senses such as sight begin to fail. Ever close your eyes and try to stand on one leg? What about stumbling through a dark room? This class improves awareness and focus. As Kung Fu enhances different areas of life, so will this class.
