What is Capoeira?
Why train Capoeira?
East West Fitness World is committed to
promoting the art and philosophy of Capoeira,
thereby fostering in our students and the larger
community the very values out of which this art
form was born - self-discipline, respect, health,
fitness and a sense of pride and empowerment.

These are the same qualities needed to
achieve the highest potential in academics,
work field, sports and social interactions.
Capoeira is an Afro-Brazilian
martial art developed by slaves as
a means to strengthen the body
and uplift the spirit.  The
movements of Capoeira blend
acrobatics, dance, and martial arts.  
Capoeira walks the thin line
between fight and play, humor and
seriousness, fun and struggle,
attack and escape—all of which
combine to form an art that is truly
unique and fulfilling! This class is
geared toward beginners with no
previous experience.
Classes at East West Fitness World are Tuesdays &
Thursdays  beginning at 7 p.m.

Some of the movements
I've seen look difficult.  Is
Capoeira for me?

If you can participate in a basic
aerobics, yoga, or a martial art class,
you can participate in Capoeira.  
Many of the acrobatic moves you
see on You tube are performed by
very advanced students with a
knack for acrobatics.  As a beginner,
you'll never be forced to perform
anything with which you're not
comfortable.  We'll spend most of
our time perfecting the base moves,
dodges, and kicks that make up the
foundation of Capoeira.
